Dear friends, We are sending the appeal on behalf of Singapore’s humanitarian group, Firefly Mission. The organisation is known to have full and transparent account disclosure. You may wish to visit www.fireflymission.org May 7, 2008 APPEAL: CYLCONE NARGIS - Myanmar Greetings in peace! As we are writing this letter of appeal, more than 22,000 people had been estimated to have lost their lives in Myanmar. In addition, 41,000 people are still reported missing. Ta Man Village, Bogalay - the village that we celebrated the opening ceremony of the school that we sponsored in May 2007 ... at press time … fate ??? unknown ??? Firefly Mission would like to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Myanmese brothers and sisters stricken by the “Cyclone Nargis" and their families. We have plans to extend our help in 2 stages: - Relief – to alleviate immediate sufferings of those who had been badly affected by the cyclone - provision of basic needs, such as medicine, shelters, water, food etc - Rehabilitation – this is a mid- to long-term project, where we would undertake projects to repair and rebuild some of the basic needs infrastructure, such as schools, or hospitals etc. To make the Relief & Rehabilitation work possible, we would need your compassionate and generous support. As the sea route is cut off due to the damaged port, shipping of donated goods will be a big problem, thus we would appeal for cash donation from your good self. Please make cheque payable to: “Firefly Mission”
For more information, please visit our website @ http://www.fireflymission.org Once again, we would like to express our condolence to all affected directly or indirectly. May All Beings be Well, Happy & Peaceful. With Much Gratitude & Metta ... together we light up the world Website: http://www.fireflymission.org
