10 Days Shangrila Yading Adventure

This journey will cross the eastern Tibetan Plateau, taking us from west & northwest Yunnan to West Sichuan, through old Tibetan monastic towns. The mountain route is a challenging one, crossing several passes with the altitude exceeding 3,300 m (10,000 ft). However, the overland journey will allow us to go deep into the pockets of Tibetan life and culture; meeting the locals and visiting monasteries in remote areas. Along the route, stop to talk with lamas and learn about the intricacies of Tibetan Buddhism; Horse ride or trek in Yading Nature Reserve and walk in some of the most remote areas of China, such as an extended Kora Trek at Yading!

Itinerary Subject to changes
Day 1 Arrive Shangrila. Rest. O/N 2-star hotel
Day 2 Shangrila – Derong - XiangCheng (8hrs, 3-star hotel)
Lunch at Sun-Valley Derong. Explore Tibetan house in Xiangcheng and Chaktreng Gompa.
Day 3 XiangCheng – Yading. O/N Tibetan homestay
We visit “BenBosi” monastery along route.
Day 4 Yading - LuoRong. (4-5 hrs, O/N tent)
Trek to Luorong (ChongGu Monastery, Pearl Lake)
With meals at herder’s hut
Day 5 Trek Yading Ge-La. (4-5 hrs, O/N tent)
Sunrise view of mountains. Trek to JiXiang Lake and Milk Lake before crossing a pass at 4850m. Then descend to cattle settlement for camping.
Day 6 Yading – ChongGu O/N Guesthouse
Continue trek around the mountains, cross 2nd pass 4900m before descend to ChongGu Monastery.
(Option: Extended 3-day trek across Kasi Hell Valley)
Day 7 ChongGu – DaoCheng O/N 2-star Hotel
Trek out for our jeep to DaoCheng. Free and easy
Soak in the hotspring to relax
Day 8 DaoCheng - Derong – Shangrila. O/N 2-star hotel
Day 9 Shangrila. O/N2-star hotel
Visit Songzhanlin Monastery. Free & easy afternoon
Day 10 Depart Shangrila
