This event has made its reputation as ‘The World’s Toughest Mountain Race’. A true challenge to the spirit of human endurance, this race involves running up and down Mt Kinabalu (4095.2m), where the total distance is 21 km for all Men and Women and Men Veteran categories. The climbathon is part of the Buff® Sky Runners® World Series circuit for the seven consecutive year and is one of the two races in the circuit held outside Europe. Buff® Sky Runner® World Series is regulated and coordinated by the European-based Federation for Sport at Attitude (FSA)

RACE REGISTRATION: 23rd - 24th August 2008 from 9:30am - 6:00pm
- Climbathon Secretariat in Kinabalu Park.
- Please bring along your IC/Passport and payment receipt.
22ND AUGUST 2008 (FRIDAY)
08:50am: Depart by SilkAir MI392 from Changi Airport.
11:15am: Arrival at Kota Kinabalu Airport and transfer to Hotel just outside of Kinabalu Park.
Check in and proceed to Kinabalu Park for registration.
06:00pm: BRIEFING: Women's Open and Men's Veteran category.
- Kinabalu Hall, Kinabalu Park.
23RD AUGUST 2008 (SATURDAY)
05:30am: Bus transfer to the race starting line.
06:30am: Arrival of participants & guests at the starting line.
- Timpohon Gate
06:45am: Arrival of the Guest of Honour.
07:00am: RACE STARTS FOR WOMEN'S OPEN & MEN'S VETERAN
Time limit - 3 hours 30 minutes to the peak.
- 3 hours from the peak to the finish line.
01:30pm: Race ends.
06:00pm: BRIEFING: Men's Open category.
- Kinabalu Hall, Kinabalu Park.
24TH AUGUST 2008 (SUNDAY)
05:30am: Bus transfer to the race starting line.
06:30am: Arrival of participants & guests at the starting line.
- Timpohon Gate
06:45am: Arrival of the Guest of Honour.
07:00am: RACE STARTS FOR MEN'S CATEGORY
Time limit - 2 hours 30 minutes to the peak.
- 2 hours from the peak to the finish line.
11:30am: Competition for Men's Category ends.
12:00pm: PRIZE PRESENTATION
01.00pm: Lunch at Park’s Hall
02:00pm: End of event & transfer back to Hotel in Kinabalu

Rules And Regulations
1. These rules may be cited as the 22nd Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon Rules 2008.
2. In these Rules:-
* “CLIMBATHON” means the 22nd Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2008.
* “COMMITTEE” means the Organizing Committee for the Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon 2008.
* “PARTICIPANT” means the participant of the Climbathon duly registered with the committee.
3. ATTIRE
Each participant shall be free to choose his or own attire for the Climbathon. However, the usage of transparent attire is STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Participants are reminded that the temperature at the mountain base varies from 13 to 20 degrees centigrade whilst temperature at the summit of Mount Kinabalu ranges from 2 to 10 degrees centigrade).
4. NUMBERS FOR PARTICIPANTS
Each participant shall be given an official number, which must be affixed with safety pins on the front and back of the participant's attire.
5. TIME LIMIT
The time limit allocated to each participants shall be as follows:
A. For Men Category:
i) Starting line to the summit within 2 hours 30 minutes.
ii) Summit to finish line within 2 hours
B. For Women category:
i) Starting line to the summit within 3 hours 30 minutes.
ii) Summit to finish line within 3 hours.
C. For Veteran (40 above) category:
i) Starting line to the summit within 3 hours 30 minutes.
ii) Summit to finish line within 3 hours.
6. OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
Each participant shall complete the Climbathon without any outside assistance.
7. CHECK STATION JUDGES
Check station judges, identified with nametags, will be based at various check stations along the Climbathon route and each participant is required to pass through the check stations, failing which shall result in his or her automatic disqualification.
8. APPEAL JURY
Any participant may appeal to the Jury, which shall consist of three members headed by a qualified Malaysian Amateur Athletics Union Technical Official. Any decision made by the appeal Jury shall be final.
9. INDEMNITY
The Committee shall not be liable for any injury or death, which occurs to any participant before, during or after the Climbathon.
10. AMMENDMENT OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Committee reserves the right to amend the Rules of the Climbathon at any time as it may deem fit.
11. ELIGIBILITY
Participants must be 18 years old as of 23rd August 2008 to enter the Climbathon. Participants must be 40 years old as of 23rd August 2008 to enter the men veteran category. Falsification of any information on the entry form, such as age classification, will result in disqualification.
12. MEN'S VETERN AGE 40 ABOVE CATEGORY
Participant must present their identification card or passport during registration for age verification.
13. OTHERS
Due to the time limits, the Climbathon will not accept any entry from runners participating for charitable reasons.

A deposit of $200 is required upon confirmation and full payment to be made by 30 June 2008. Non-payment by required date may result in the cancellation of your booking and subjected to cancellation charges.
