1 Day Malaysia Bagan Krian Swampland & Fire-Fly

Soak in the splendor of swampland by heading on to a forest reserve & traverse its boardwalk on stilts to get intimate with trees & plants that have been around longer than mankind. Swamp ecosystems have traditionally been sustained & managed by local populations for the production of food, medicines, tannins, fuel wood, & construction materials. Learn how the forest maintains a healthy coastal ecosystem by nursing juvenile fish, crabs, shrimps, & mollusks. Additionally, manatees, crab-eating monkeys, fishing cats, monitor lizards, sea turtles, & mud-skipper fish also thrive in the swamp. And finally, highlight of the excursion comes in the form of glowing fire-fly colonies that are only found in Krian. Touch, feel their fluttering wings and be one of the lucky few to view this dreamlike phenomenon.

3:00 pm  Trek mangrove forest reserve via stilt broad walk & learn about its ecology, medicinal plants, migratory birds &
role in nursing juvenile sea life
4:30pm  Eat unusual seafood for teatime at Kuala Sepetang
mangrove fishing village
5:30pm  Bagan Krian river safari starts. View estuarine wildlife
7:00pm  See quaint riverine villages & catch the glorious sea view sunset at Krian’s river mouth
7:30 pm  See the 1st glitters of fire-fly colonies moments after sunset
Expect to view glowing Sonneratia trees in this swamp
8:00pm  Complete boat safari and head back to jetty
8:50 pm  Dinner
9:30 pm  Drive back to Ipoh.
