Day 01: Fly Delhi – Leh (3500m)
The flight takes us over the Greater Himalaya and makes an exciting landing at one of the highest airports in the world. We may chance upon stunning and breathtaking views of Stok Kangri as we fly-into Leh and if it is a clear day, to the north we can get views of the great peaks of the Karakoram. We are met at the airport and taken to our hotel. Advised rest for the whole day. Leh is at an altitude of nearly 35000m and you might experience the effects of the altitude, most likely a little breathless and a slight headache. These symptoms are not lasting and are mild as they usually disappear quite quickly, nevertheless, for first day or two everyone is advised to take it easy. Overnight Hotel

Day 02: In Leh (3500m)
Take a day trip to the famous monasteries of Shey & Thiksey and head back to the hotel for lunch. Overnight Hotel.

Day 03: Drive Leh to Chilling (60km / 2hrs) and trek Chilling to Skiu (3400m) 3-4 hrs
Crossing the massive Zanskar river on cable trolleys is going to be the days highlight. The trail traverses the river Zanskar and along the pretty ,willow-lined Markha Valley , winds up into the mountains. We reach the Skiu village and pay a visit to the old gompa. Option of camping an hour further at Pentse. Overnight Camp.

Day 04: Trek Skiu to Markha (3700m) 5-6hrs trek
The trail to Markha is not too strenuous, rising about 300m over the 13.5 miles, crossing the Markha river a couple of times . The colours of the barren mountains of Ladakh are truly stunning , greens, blues and the pastel pinks shimmer in the brilliant sunshine and change colour dramatically as the sun rises and sets. Along the trail one can see a few ancient chortens and a few wolf pits, to trap wolves in the winter months as they roam freely then. Markha is a sizable village, with a desserted fort on the hillside and a small village monastery. Overnight Camp.

Day 05 : Trek Markha to Thachungtse (4150m) 5-6hrs trek
KangYatze (6400m), a magnificent snow clad mountain commands the views for the following two days. As we walk along, we chance upon some magnificent geological creations of large boulders balanced precariously on top of consolidated earth spikes. Going down and crossing the bridge we camp in a beautiful valley , Thachungtse. A favorite area to spot herds of blue sheep slide up and down the steep cliffs with incredible agility. Overnight Camp.

Day 06: Trek Thachungtse to Nimaling (4720m) 3-4hrs trek
You pass several mani walls and suddenly come across a small lake. Here we get the amazing views of KangYatze’s massiveness being reflected in the still waters of the lake. Also the views of Marka Valley which is well below us now. A gradual descent leads to Nimaling, which is a flat bottomed valley. Nimaling which has a semi-permanent population of villagers who come from the Markha Valley to graze their live stock on the summer pastures. Overnight Camp.

Day 07: Trek Nimaling to Shang Sumdo (3660m) over the Kongmaru La (5130m) 6-7 hrs trek
As we climb the last short but steep slope to the top there are good views over the Zanskar Range and of the vertical ice walls on the north face of Kang Yaze. Its takes about 3 hrs to reach the top. The initial descent is steep as we enter into a spectacular gorge and then descend more gradually with a few small river crossings. On top of the barren cliffs we may chance upon the sight of the elusive Blue Sheep which inhabit this area. Passing through Chogdo we continue our descent to the village of Shang Sumdo. Today is quite a hard day due to the crossing of the high pass and the long descent. Overnight Camp.

Day 08: Drive Shang Sumdo to Stok village (3650m) 2 hrs
Get into vehicles to go to Hemis Monastery . Continue onwards to reach the Stok village. Wash up & the spend the afternoon exploring the Stok village. Overnight Guest House.

Day 09: Trek Stok village to Mounkarmo (4380m) 6-7hrs
We walk along the Stok river coming from the Stok glacier. Depending on the water level we will need to cross the stream a couple of times. It’s a gradual uphill walk all the way till Mounkarmo. Overnight Camp.

Day 10: Trek Mounkarmo to Stok Kangri Base Camp (4975m) 3 to 4 hrs
It’s a short day as we follow the busy trail which gradually ascents and leads up to the base camp of the Stok Kangri. The base campsite is on a huge meadow and is usually quite full with trekkers from all parts of the world. Overnight Camp.

Day 11: Rest at the base camp
Relax at the base camp which also houses one of the biggest camp; best stocked parachute cafés on the trek. Overnight Camp.

Day 12-13: Climb Stok Kangri (6150m) and back to Base camp
We have reserved two days for the climb which would allow for contingencies due to bad weather. Fluttering with prayer flags the summit rewards with wide open views, the Karakoram range & Ladakh range on the north, the Zanskar range on the west and a bird’s eye view of the Indus valley and the Leh city. Later descend to base camp. Overnight Camp.

Day 14: Trek to Stok village and drive to Leh
We exit out of the Stok valley at Stok village and then drive for another 1hour to Leh. Overnight at hotel.
