  • Bandai area is ideal for fun outdoor activities. In summer and autumn you can experience canoeing, cycling and the many hiking trails which go through the heart of Bandai.
  • June through October: Canoeing, kayaking, cycling, trekking and hiking, cruises on Lake Hibara and viewing of the changing of the leaves in autumn.
  • You may experience snow in early Nov.

Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Trek

For over 1000 years, people from all walks of life, including retired emperors and aristocrats, have embarked on the arduous pilgrimage to Kumano. The Nakahechi Imperial Trail leads you east into the mountains towards Kumano Sanzan. This route, known as ‘the Imperial Route,’ was used by emperors and nobles from the 10th century onwards.
