An original and vitalizing “full nature” New Year’s Eve! Your guide will make you discover an unknown Vercors and you will live an experience in an exceptional atmosphere, under the sign of good humor and nature! For New Year’s Eve, you will have the choice between the refuge reserved for the group, or the igloos that you will have built yourself!

Day 1 Arrival Rousset en Vercors (D O/N Gite)
Welcome at 2 p.m. at your gîte in Rousset en Vercors, a small village at the foot of the Hauts Plateaux. Check the equipment (snowshoes, pulkas, bags). Short walk to warm up in the afternoon. If you arrive later, please remember to tell the guide, and your equipment will be checked at the end of the day. Dinner and night in Rousset en Vercors, in rooms for 2 to 4 people.

Day 2 Rousset en Vercors – Pré Grandu (BLD O/N refuge) [3 hrs, +400m]
Departure for the highlands of Vercors with pulkas and snowshoes to the Pré Grandu refuge. The stay in this refuge is well equipped by the ONF, reserved just for us. Afternoon start making of our igloos (not far from the refuge). Experience an unforgettable day in the shoes of an Inuit! Depending on the conditions, we could possibly start from the Col de Rousset. Dinner and overnight at Pré Grandu. You will need to carry part of the things, along with the pulkas, most of the food will have already been taken to the shelter.
Festive dinner and exceptional New Year’s Eve at the refuge.

Day 3 The Highlands of Vercors (BLD O/N Igloo/Refuge) [5 hrs, +250m, -250m]
Experience the morning mists and a very nice walk under the Grand Veymont (highest summit of Vercors: 2341m), in the heart of the largest Nature Reserve in France: exceptional landscapes. On return, we can do improvement of the igloos if necessary. Night in an igloo or at the Pré Grandu refuge (as you wish).

Day 4 Pré Grandu – Rousset en Vercors (B) [2.5 hrs, -400m]
Nice descent via the Coche to the village of Rousset. Once back, we will have a snack at the gîte on the 1st day. End of stay in the middle of the afternoon.

We may have to modify the indicated itinerary: either at the level of the organization (problem of overload of the accommodations, duplication of the groups, modification of the state of the ground, landslides, degraded trails, etc.), or directly because of the guide (weather, group level, etc.). These modifications are always made in your interest, for your safety and for a better comfort!

More information

Medium to good walker. You have to be in good shape and be able to walk 4 to 6 hours a day.

Partial carry. Small bag on January 1st, with your day’s things and your picnic. Baggage carried by you on December 31 and January 2. Most of the food will have been deposited by us at the refuge beforehand. The rest can be loaded into a few pulkas (Scandinavian sledges) provided for this purpose and pulled by the participants. The pulka glides on snow and takes less effort than carrying a loaded backpack. We plan a pulka for 2 to 4 people.

D1 – In a room for 2 to 4 people, in a gîte in Rousset en Vercors.
D2 and D3 – Pré Grandu Refuge, from December 31 to January 2, small simple refuge, isolated on the highlands of Vercors and reserved for the group. Unique location in a wild and totally isolated setting. No shower possible at the refuge.
Warm New Year’s Eve, perfectly suited to life in a refuge, in a rustic setting surrounded by nature. The sleeping arrangements are of course in a dormitory, on comfortable mattresses. Down is necessary. When we arrive at the refuge, we will have to make a fire (the wood is there) to heat ourselves, but the refuge is quite small and very quickly hot.
The igloo in a few words …
Building an igloo requires a bit of technique, which your guide will be happy to teach you! An igloo with 3 to 4 places is built in about 3 hours. Once built, a simple candle turns the place into a cathedral of light… why not spend the night there?
No worries, we have a well-equipped hut nearby that you can use if the night in the igloo doesn’t suit you.
You will also learn an incredibly effective safety technique in hostile environments, which you will never forget!

Half-board in a gîte, lunch basket, food for the race. At the refuge, meals are prepared together. On New Year’s Eve, a festive meal at the refuge with smoked salmon, foie gras, fondue, surprise dessert, Clairette de Die, etc. Food is plentiful and all drinks are included.

A state-certified French mountain guide.

5 to 15 people.
