Pindaya Country side

Caves at Ywangan
The Danu trek is part of an extensive trekking area in the Danu administered zone in Central Myanmar. The Danu tribe is known to be smart farmers especially in tea and coffee and are famous for their traditional Danu folk songs and dancing. The area near the town Ywa Ngan has been unknown to tourists and offers excellent opportunities for off the beaten track community walks passing colourful fields, forest and plantations. Guests will enjoy a wonderful Danu welcome with overnights and meals at local home stays. This is definitely not luxury but certainly and unforgettable experience in an area very few tourists have been before. As you are at an altitude above 1200 meter the weather is pleasant for trekking the whole year round. The winters can be a bit chilly in the evening.

Depart from Yangon or Mandalay Airport by flight to Heho (Yangon – Heho 0800/ 0910 or 1230/1340; Mandalay – Heho 0920/0955). On arrival Heho airport, meet guide and hop on your bike for a rolling countryside ride to Pindaya and visit the caves before onwards to Ywa Ngan. Day 2: Ywa Ngan – Oak Twin – Kyauk Nget (5-6 hrs walk, BLD)
After breakfast at the hotel, deposit main luggage in hotel and carry your day pack with your own clothes for the 3 days trek. We start the morning with a walk of about 2 hours to Oak Twin village before continue about an hour to Kyauk Nget where we will stay overnight. From here it is a leisurely 2 hours walk to an amazing cave with a creek passing through. Nobody actually knows how far the creek continues, certainly too far for us to find out. If you prefer to take it easy today it is possible to skip the cave and relax at the local homestay in the Danu village. Lunch and dinner will be prepared locally from traditional ingredients grown in the mountainous fields.
Overnight in Kyauk Nget (Home stay – basic facilities)
Day 3: Kyauk Nget – Tant Shout- Inn Gyi – Da Hla Pin – Kyauk Gu Ti (6-7 hrs walk, BLD)
After a home cooked breakfast in the family house in the early morning, we continue the trek with stunning scenery in the mountains with sometimes a bit of fog giving the whole area a mystical atmosphere. Today we have a long walk of about 6-7 hours passing plenty of plantations and fields where local farmers are working.
The altitude makes the climate excellent for walks. One of the highlights of the day is probably the visit to a waterfall which is over 100 meter high. Lunch is taken half way. We arrive in the evening at the local house of a village head and former doctor using purely traditional medicines and healing methods. A very friendly man who lives in a house overlooking the village with his family. We stay the night at his home.
Overnight at local village homestay.
Day 4: Kyauk Gu Ti – Yae Oo – transfer to Heho – Yangon/ Mandalay (2 hrs walk, BL)
After local breakfast, we walk about 2 hours to the main road in Yae Oo where a car will pick us up to continue to the hotel in Ywa Ngan to get your luggage and continue to Heho (about 2 – 2.5 hrs. drive) for your flight to Yangon or Mandalay (Heho – Yangon 1625/ 1735; Heho – Mandalay 1410/1445).
