7 Days Guided Snowshoes in the Black Forest (Germany)

Snowshoes in the Black Forest

Guided tour – Only carry a day pack with the necessary valuables
Level: Easy-Moderate
Season: Jan – Mar
Days: 7
Cost: from S$ 2330

In the heart of the Upper Black Forest, nestle in a large valley the beautiful farms of Bernau, not far from Freiburg am Breisgau, its beautiful capital, the rounded peaks of the massif: the Feldberg (1493 m, summit of the Black Forest), Schauinsland, Belchen …

Your holiday resort for this week: “Das Rössle”, a charming 3 *** hotel, completely renovated, family-run, solid and typical, which offers you a wellness area that you will love: swimming pool and saunas, with the possibility of treatments and optional massages. Last but not least, “das Rössle” is one of the best places to eat in the Black Forest!

Every day, we will go for a day trip, discovering high valleys, sometimes of a delicate charm, sometimes of a wild romanticism, lakes around which are profiled wooded chains and huddled clearings, spreading out on the surrounding slopes and peaks. Alternation of deep forests, valleys, glades, villages with old farms with roofs falling very low, give this landscape a very special charm. Snow, frost and ice then transform reality into a fairy tale setting.

A very lively country, warm and rich in traditions, the Black Forest offers an ideal profile for the practice of snowshoeing.

Highlights :

  • Accommodation in a very comfortable 3* hotel with a superb wellness area

  • Easy snowshoe hikes in a rich and varied environment

Day 7 Bernau (B)
After breakfast, transfer to Hinterzarten station.
End of our trip.

We may have to modify the indicated itinerary: either at the level of the organization (problem of overload of the accommodations, duplication of the groups, modification of the state of the ground, landslides, degraded trails, etc.), or directly because of the guide (weather, group level, etc.). These modifications are always made in your interest, for your safety and for a better comfort!

Hotel – Gasthaus *** “Das Rössle” in Bernau im Schwarzwald. It is our favorite hotel in the Black Forest!
Accommodation in a room for 2 (exceptionally 3). All the rooms are spacious, equipped with bathroom, TV and wifi.
The hotel, right in the center of the village, is ideally located in the heart of the Upper Black Forest.
This 3 * family hotel, founded by the Mäule family in 1919, has kept its typical and warm appearance, but has always remained at the top of the comfort level. All the rooms have been recently renovated and are particularly large, beautiful and cozy.
The wellness area is remarkable: very recent, large and bright, it offers:
– A large swimming pool of 6 x 12 m covered and heated to 29 ° C, with a rest area and large bay windows and view of nature
– Two saunas: a Finnish sauna, and a sauna with fragrant oils
– A hammam
– A large rest room with large bay windows and a view of nature
Access to the wellness area is included in the price.
Wellness area: you have free access to the heated indoor swimming pool and the brand new spa area: Finnish sauna, essence sauna and steam bath.

Accommodation in Germany
For the rooms of 2, there is rarely the same difference we are used to see between the double (large bed for 2) and the twin (2 separate beds): most often the bed consists of two 90 cm mattresses side by side but equipped. of individual sheets and duvets.
Hotel or Gasthof? Germans and Austrians themselves are often at a loss to explain the difference to you… The Gasthof is generally run by a family and has existed for several generations; it will often be more typical. The hotel is generally a more impersonal and newer establishment … which does not prevent the Gasthofs from regularly getting impressive facelifts! But this difference is especially valid in the big cities (we will have chain hotels, never chain gasthofs).

The term Gasthof is often translated as “inn”, which devalues the establishment. Thus, more and more of Gasthof, after a renovation, abandon the term Gasthof in favor of Hotel, more international. This is the case with our establishment: “Das Rössle”!

The catering is outstanding at the hotel “Das Rössle”. If the dinners are excellent, breakfast is still our preference: it is beautiful, good, varied and in abundance. Plan a little time in the morning: it would be a shame to grab a cup of coffee on the go! As for the dining room, both modern and in the traditional style, in wood and light colors, it makes you want to take your time.
Picnics at noon or stop at a refuge.
