Ha Giang and the Northeast hinterland is famous for its beautiful scenery of the green forest, picturesque limestone mountains and beautiful rice terrace. It is also home of different ethnic such as Tay, Nung, Dao, H’mong.

Day 2: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Thong Nguyen – Nam Hong  (Drive 300km, 8hrs/ Trek 3-4km, 1 hr/ Homestay/ BLD)
Day 3: Nam Hong – Nam Ai – Nam Son (Trek 14km, 6 hrs/ Homestay/ BLD)
Day 4: Nam Son – Dong Van (Drive 240km, 7hrs/ Sightseeing 1hr/ Hotel/ BL)
Day 5: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Cao Bang (Drive 240km, 7hrs/ Sightseeing 1hr/ Homestay/ BLD)
Day 6: Cao Bang – Ban Gioc – Khuoi Ky Village – Phia Thap Village (Drive 90km, 2hrs/ Sightseeing 4hrs/ Homestay/ BLD)
Day 7: Phia Thap – Lang Son – Bac Son (Drive 150km, 4.5hrs/ Hike 2hrs/ Homestay/BLD)
Day 8: Bac Son – Na Lay – Hanoi (Drive 170km, 3.5hrs/ Hike 3hrs/ Hotel/BL)

Itinerary (Subject to changes)
Day 1:  Arrive Hanoi (Hotel)
Pick up at Hanoi airport, transfer to Hanoi. Rest of day is free to explore Hanoi. Overnight 3-star Hotel in Hanoi, Standard room

Day 2: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Thong Nguyen – Nam Hong  (Drive 300km, 8hrs/ Trek 3-4km, 1 hr/ Homestay/ BLD)
Check out hotel and early breakfast before meet guide at 7.30am. Drive to Ha Giang on the highway and flat road, passing rural area before reaching to the mountain village Thong Nguyen at 3pm approximately. Lunch will be in local restaurant enroute.

You will start the trek to Nam Hong community with a visit to a local museum to learn more about the Red Dao people. After arriving at the homestay you can participate in a fish catching experience for your dinner. If travelling in August and September, you will have chance to practice your fishing skills at the rice field. If you are interested, you can prepare and cook dinner with your homestay owner or enjoy a traditional herbal bath to soothe your tired body after a long day of travelling. After a tasty local dinner with traditional rice wine, you will fall into sleep deeply at the cozy homestay.

Overnight at a local house of Dzao people in Nam Hong Village / Kinh Homestay – dorm without en-suite offering spectacular views over the valley and the farm.

Day 3: Nam Hong – Nam Ai – Nam Son (Trek 14km, 6 hrs/ Homestay/ BLD)
Wake up early to enjoy the dawn in the village. Have breakfast and start the day with farming work around 7am. You will learn about the tea cultivation, tea picking technique and then pick tea leaves yourself. At 8am you will carry tea leaf baskets back to the village. Back in the village take a rest and have breakfast in the open-air terrace before participating in tea processing for one hour. You will end this activity by testing the green tea you made. The tea season is from April to August and the best tea is made in April.

Bid farewell with the family, and proceed by motorbike up to the end of Nam Hong village pass before trek along the charming path to Khoa Thuong (about 7.5 km) to enjoy the beauitful landscape. Have lunch and a short break at Khoa Thuong before continue to Nam Ai village to where you can see beautiful rice paddies and explore the lifestyle and culture of Dao Ao Dai (long-dressed Dao) minority people. Continue trek to Nam Son to enjoy a night in a peaceful homestay and dinning with homestay owners.

Overnight at a local house of Tay people in Nam Son Village / Dinh Thuyen Homestay – dorm without en-suite. The stilt house is the traditional style of Tay people of the Northeastern region, fully equipped with essential living facilities, surrounded by vegetable gardens and fishponds.

Day 4: Nam Son – Dong Van (Drive 240km, 7hrs/ Sightseeing 1hr/ Hotel/ BL)
On the morning open the window and have a look outside — you will be treated to views across the rice terraces. After breakfast drive to Dong Van town along winding road of mountainside though different village and beautiful landscape. The landscapes change from green lush of forest and rice terraces to the rocky mountain of Dong Van Karst Plateau. Along the ride, we will stop to visit Pho Cao and Sung La village of White H’mong and the Vuong Family Palace where former H’mong King and his family used to live in.

Arriving to Dong Van town in the late afternoon, and check in hotel. In the evening you can walk around the town with nice ancient houses of Tay ethic.

Day 5: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Cao Bang ~ Phia Thap Village (Drive 240km, 7hrs/ Sightseeing 1hr/ Homestay/ BLD)
After breakfast, you will drive cross Ma Pi Leng Pass to Meo Vac along the mountainside which has romantic and spectacular scenery. We will stop at Ma Pi Leng Pass to enjoy one of the most beautiful viewpoint in Vietnam: the “King” of the Vietnam’s pass or Great Wall of Vietnam or the Pyramid of the Meo. At the top of Ma Pi Leng mount is the “happiness” road with a stone stele recording the marks in the construction process. Next to the road is abyss; below is the Nho Que River, one of the most unique tectonic valleys in Vietnam.

Continue your trip to Cao Bang. Along the way you will visit the retreat Lo Lo village of Khuoi Khon, located in the mountainside with spectacular views of valley beyond valley. The Lo Lo is one of smallest ethnic group in the North Vietnam. They still keep the tradition culture, simple life, limited communication with outside, and most of the elderly villagers cannot speak common Vietnamese language.

After arriving Phia Thap village in Cao Bang, you will check-in homestay of Nung Family and spend your night with host family.

Overnight at local house of Nung people in Phia Thap Village, dorm without en-suite. It’s a traditional house of the Nung An people located in a village of incense makers. From the house you have a beautiful view over rice paddies and corn fields. The ground floor serves as a living room as well as a spacious, airy dining room. The house is made of 100% wood with yin and yang roof tiles making it a very beautiful and spectacular house

Day 6: Phia Thap Village – Ban Gioc – Khuoi Ky Village – Phia Thap Village (Drive 90km, 2hrs/ Sightseeing 4hrs/ Homestay/ BLD)
After breakfast, take a short drive to visit Ban Gioc Waterfall (the biggest waterfall in Vietnam) and Nguom Ngao Cave (one of the most spectacular cave systems in Vietnam). The cave wall is cover with hundreds of beautiful limestone stalactites with many different shapes. After lunch at a local house in Khuoi Ky village, a pretty village located near Nguom Ngao, inhabited by the Nung ethnic, you will return to Phia Thap village and enjoy the rest of day free at your own leisure.

Day 7: Phia Thap – Lang Son – Bac Son (Drive 150km, 4.5hrs/ Hike 2hrs/ Homestay/ BLD)
After breakfast leave Phia Thap for Bac Son, passing through mountain with countryside landscape. You will have lunch on the way before arrive to Quynh Son – a pretty village of Bac Son district. Check-in homestay of Tay family and spend the rest of day exploring around the village. The Tay people have been living for many hundreds of year in this area with culture of rice faming and making the roof tile. The Tay is famous with their food cuisine and living in pretty tradition stilt house. The village is located in the beautiful valley with rice field and limestone mountain in the surrounding.

Overnight at Homestay in Quynh Son Village, dorm

Day 8: Bac Son – Na Lay – Hanoi (Drive 170km, 3.5hrs/ Hike 3hrs/ Hotel/ BL)
After breakfast you will escort with a local guide to climb to Na Lay mountain nearby the village to admire the beautiful landscape of the valley. The hundreds of limestone Mountains standing around the valley with rice field is like an art picture. The climb is about less than 2 hours up and down. After that we can explore the village and rice field on foot before return to homestay for lunch and check out.

After lunch drive to Hanoi, arriving in the late afternoon. Check in hotel and rest of day is free at leisure. Overnight 3-star Hotel in Hanoi, Standard room

Day 9: Depart Hanoi (B)
Day is free at leisure before check out and transfer to airport.
