5 Days Snow Mountain Trek (Taiwan)

Xueshan or Hsuehshan or Snow Mountain 雪山 a mountain in Heping District, Taichung, Taiwan. It is the second highest mountain in Taiwan and in East Asia, at 3,886 m (12,749 ft) above sea level. It is located in the Shei-Pa National Park and it is visible in good weather from hills near Taiwan’s capital Taipei.

There are two cabins on the trail. The first, Qika Cabin, is at the 2.0 km mark. The second, 369 Cabin, is at the 6.9 km mark. Both cabins provide basic bunker style beds. The peak is at the 10.9 km.

There is abundant of snow during winter and it is a great place to play snow and appreciate the snow scenery. Our local leaders are equipped with snow climbing training. Come with us for a taste of snow-capped beauty of Snow Mountain!

Special Note: It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb. If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommend that you should refrain from climbing: Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitation, Arthritis, Heart disease, severe anemia, Peptic ulcers, Epileptic fits, Obesity (overweight), Chronic asthma, Muscular cramps, Hepatitis (jaundice); or any other disease which may hamper the climber.

Day 1: Arrival Taipei. Overnight Hotel City Inn Branch I or similar (Own transfer)

Day 2: Taipei – Trailhead – Qika Hut (2,406m, abt 2hrs/ 2km trek) (D)
1000 Meet guide at 台北市政府捷運站 or as advised. Gears check before depart to Yuan Shan
Lunch at own cost and last point for purchase
1230 Arrive trail head for registration, briefing and video viewing (Please prepare ID)
1530 Trek to QiKa Hut 七卡山莊 for acclimatization
1600 Arrive QiKa Hut or Xiang Yang Hut 向陽山屋(2850m) for acclimatization and overnight
1800 Dinner (4 dishes + 1 soup or Sesame Chicken Hotpot)
1930 Rest and good night

Day 3: Qika Hut – Snow Mt East Peak – 369 Hut (3100m) – Summit (3886m) – 369 Hut (12.8km, abt 10hrs trek) (BLD)
0400 Wake up for breakfast (Eggs or Ham Eggs with bread + Coffee or Milk Tea)
0500 Get ready
0530 Trek to Xue Shan East Peak 雪山東峰
0830 Return trek to 369 Hut
0840 Lunch (Hot Noodles)+Rest
0930 Trek to Xue Shan Main Summit 雪山主峰(Light pack)
1100 Arrive Summit before descent
1500 Back in 369 Hut for rest and overnight
1730. Dinner (5 dishes + 1 soup)
1830 Rest and good night

Day 4: 369 Hut – Trailhead (7km) – Taipei Overnight Hotel City Inn Branch I or similar (B)
0400 Wake up for breakfast and getting ready (Summer & winter schedule will vary)
Breakfast: (Pancake + Coffee or Porridge + side dishes + Boiled Egg)
0530 Trek to East Peak 東峰
0630 Arrive East Peak for sunrise
0700 Descend to Trail Head
1000 Arrive trailhead and proceed to hidden hotspring or Jiaoxi Hotspring (Own cost)
1400 Celebration Lunch (Own Cost) at restaurant or local cuisine
1500 Return drive to Taipei (If during Sat/Sun to Taipei, will take the coach/ train return to Taipei to skip the jam.
1900. Arrive Taipei Station
Overnight Hotel City Inn Branch I or similar (Own transfer)

Day 5: Departure (Own transfer)

Day 1: Banqiao
Arrival Banqiao New Taipei City (Self arrange transport). Overnight MRT Hotel Standard Room or similar

Day 2: Banqiao – Nanshan
1900 Meet guide at Banqiao Train Station for depart
2200 Arrive Nanshan Village for overnight at Homestay.

Day 3: Nanshan – 369 Hut (Breakfast, Dinner)
0600 Breakfast at Nanshan Village, pack and Transfer to Snow Mt Trail Head
0800 Arrive Snow Mt Trail Head for hike
0900 Arrive Qika Hut
1100 Arrive KuPo View Platform (Own Lunch)
1300 Arrive Snow Mt East Peak (3201M)
1500 Arrive 369 Hut for rest & dinner

Day 4: 369 Hut – Summit – Banqiao (Breakfast)
0300 Wake up for early breakfast and get ready with light pack for summit hike
0400 Arrive 7.8K Black Forest
0530 Arrive Snow Mt Valley
0630 Arrive Snow Mt Peak (3886M)
1030 Back in 369 Hut (Own Lunch) for packing and descend
1430 Arrive Trail Head and transfer back to Banqiao
1930 Arrive Banqiao Train Station and make your way to hotel
Overnight MRT Hotel Standard Room or similar

Day 5: Departure
Self arrange transport to Airport
