In the heart of the Tyrol between the northern Alps of Chiemgau (Germany) and the Kitzbühel Alps, rise the limestone mountains of Kaisergebirge composed of 2 ensembles, Wilder Kaiser (2341 m) and the Zahmer Kaiser (2002m) symbolizing the crown of the Emperor of Austria. At their feet, the wild valleys of Kaisertal and Kaiserbachtal meet at the spectacular Stripsenjoch Pass, the central point of the massif.
All around this massif are valleys where flow rivers and waterfalls, green hills and pretty villages of wooden chalets abundantly flowery, romantic lakes … And always in the background, the splendid view of the imposing Kaiser Gebirge, which we will tour.
This route takes place in the heart of alpine landscapes, on trails without major difficulty, at a moderate altitude to enjoy green pastures, forests, lakes and lively villages with painted houses, dominated by the beautiful peaks around. For those who want to enjoy high mountain landscapes, with good comfort at every step.

Hotels and rooms in Inn
Day 1 • Kufstein, 449 m (Hotel, D)
Check in on Sunday around 17:30 at the Hotel in Kufstein (499m) for one night. Briefing of the stay by the guide and dinner. Located in the Alluvial Valley of the Inn, near the Bavarian border, the city is surrounded by mountains such as the Pendling, Kaisergebirge and Festungsberg, which stands a fortress of the Middle Ages and its church in the purest Baroque tradition.
Day 2 • Kufstein, 499 m – Walchsee, 668 m, via the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte, 1389m and Gamsschaukopf, 1216m • (6-7hrs Walk | + 1100m, -900m | Hotel, BLD)
A very varied stage, allowing one to immerse oneself in the massif and the beautiful landscapes that compose it. After a gradual climb over Kufstein, a short descend to cross a wild limestone gorge will lead to a passage to the prehistoric cave of Tischofer Hohe. Then wind through a beautiful climb in the beech forest, the landscape opens on the limestone mountains of the Wilderkaiser. From Rietzalm refuge you will have a first view of the alpine pastures. Continue to refuge Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte (1389m) at the foot of the Petersköpfl (1745m), you will take a break on the panoramic terrace. We continue on the Ebbser Steig, a small trail with alpine terrain that descends “in laces” to the Gamsschaukopf. The the trail continues between forests and pastures until Aschinger Alm (967m) at the Walchsee valley. Descent into the wide valley to reach our hotel. Free time to enjoy the Spa/ sauna and Well-being in the hotel. Dinner and overnight in a 3* hotel in Walchsee.
Day 3 • Walchsee Gwirchtalm (1034m) – Feldalmsattel (1403m) – Stripsenjoch (1577m) – Griesner Alm (1024m) (6hrs walk | + 1100m, -620m | Mountain Inn, BLD)
A very beautiful mountain stage, passing from pastures to the cliffs of Kaiser Winckl, allowing us to approach the very heart of the Kaisergebirge Massif. The day begins gently through alpine meadows and forests in a balcony on Lake Walchsee before entering the wild Weissenbach valley. After crossing the Feldalmsattel pass and Stripsenjoch pass, we reach the extraordinary Stripsenjochhaus hut (built in 1901-1902 – one of the oldest Alpine Club huts in the Northern Alps) perched like a sentinel on the Stripsenjoch Pass. From here, you can see the most impressive cliffs of all the Alps. It is also the central point of the Wilder-Kaiser and the gateway to the Kaiserbachtal nature conservation area. On an area of 10200 hectares this complex is home to a unique flora and fauna. Last descent to reach our Mountain Lodge at 1024m at the bottom of the Kaisertalbach valley. Dinner and overnight in a typical mountain inn in the Kaisertalbach valley.
Day 4 • Griesner Alm – Gasteig (5-6hrs walk | + 780m, -1090m | Hotel, BLD)
Leaving Griesner Alm, the climb to Feldberg (1813 m) by a beautiful trail is the highlight of the day, from where there is a breathtaking view. Our trail then runs along the ridge to the Scheibenbühelberg (1613m) and the Scheibenbühelalm (1280m) pastures before descend into the small hamlet of Griesenau nestled at the bottom of the valley just at the entrance to the Kaiserbachtal nature reserve. Short transfer by regular bus (5 minutes) to the charming little hamlet of Gasteig (commune of Kirchdorf), placed at an altitude of 746m in a vast meadow at the foot of the mountain, in a landscape underlined by beautiful farms and mountain pastures flower. Dinner and overnight in an inn or hotel in Gasteig or Griesenau.
Day 5 • Gasteig – Ellmau by Ackerlhütte, Baumgartenköpfl, 1572m, Gaudeamushütte, Wochenbrunneralm, 1085m, Ellmau, 820m | (5hrs walk | + 900m, -600m | Hotel/ Gasthof, BLD)
A spectacular stage on the southern slope of the Wilder Kaiser balcony overlooking the beautiful valley of Ellmau. We leave the civilization from the small cottage of Alpage Hackeralm (1097m) to join the well marked trail “Adlerweg” to the small mountain hut Ackerlhütte at the foot of the rock faces of the south face of the Ackerlspitze (2329 m). Continue to the Baumgartenkopfl (beautiful belvedere on the valley) and Gaudeamushütte where we leave the Adlerweg to descend into the valley of the Hausbach. After crossing Wochenbrunneralm (1085m), we descend by taxi bus to the village of Ellmau nestled at the bottom of the valley. Dinner and overnight in hotel or gasthof in Ellmau.
Day 6 • Ellmau – Kufstein by Lake Hintersteiner See, 882m, Walleralm 1171m, Hochweg, 1470m | (5hrs walk | + 690m, -650m | BL)
Take a short transfer to Lake Hintersteiner See via Scheffau, the smallest village in the Wilder Kaiser. The day begins with a climb from the idyllic Lake Hintersteiner See nestled in an exceptional setting to the hamlet of Alpine Wallermern (1170 m) and its young chalets inviting us to the break. We will continue along the small pass and summit of Hochweg (1470 m), before descending to the alpine hamlet and the Kaindlhütte refuge. Then descent to pass a gorge before a short ascent to the chairlift Bretenjoch. Descent of the first section by the chairlift, before finishing on foot by a spectacular trail bordering an impressive gorge (and very well protected) to Kufstein. End of the hike around 4pm in Kufstein .

LEVEL
Intermediate. From 5 to 6.5 hours of walking and/or 600 to 1090 m of positive elevation and 500 to 1200 m of negative elevation during the day. Few technical passages, alternating paths and trails. A few high passes.
CARRIAGE
Nothing to carry except your small bag with your belongings of the day and your picnic. You find your luggage every night at the end of the day hiking.

ACCOMMODATION /
Typical hotels and inns, in 2-bedrooms, Austrian comforts, duvets. Showers and toilets sometimes upstairs but usually in the bedrooms.
Note: in Austria, few rooms are equipped with 2 separate beds but rather with “middle” beds, that is to say 2 twin beds pushed together, with individual mattresses and duvets. Individual registrations are grouped together in double rooms unless you request the single room supplement.
FOOD
Dinners and breakfasts served hot by our hosts.
Picnic lunch, food supplies; balanced and adapted to walking in the mountains.
