7 Days Guided tour – Carry only your small bag with daily things & picnic
France/ Italy/ Switzerland
Level: Intermediate
Season: End May to End September

Discover the Tour du Mont Blanc with this guided hike to discover the most beautiful glaciers and peaks in the Alps!

Faithful to its myth, the Mont Blanc is an unmissable massif of the Alps. During this trek, which will take you from France to Italy, then to Switzerland, you will admire Mont Blanc from all angles, under all its lights!

Seven valleys, 71 glaciers, 400 peaks … the Mont-Blanc massif fascinates …

To go around, is to discover an incomparable universe, that of the high mountain, impressive and magical, and the spectacle of the nearby glaciers descending from peaks to the mountain pastures

From Courmayeur to the Chamonix valley, from the Arpette window to the wild Val Ferret, along the Swiss, Italian and French slopes, the paths venture between pastures, glaciers and peaks, crossing passes and valleys.

The astonishing theater of nature comes out the big game. The forests follow one another on the slopes, beeches, spruces, larches, pine trees, then fade, replaced by juniper trees, mosses and lichens. On the lawn, the flowers blossom: gentians, carnations of the Alps, rhododendrons, sulfur anemones …

A chance meeting with some marmots players, a fearful chamois or an ibex with golden eyes is still possible.

A domain of untamed nature, the massif is also the territory of the women and men who live here. Going around Mont Blanc is also discover through villages and hamlets, a familiar and warm mountain, full of tradition.

A complete trekking trip, with all the pleasure of the light bag, in shelters or in hotels, for an unmissable classic of the mountain trek.

Zheng Zheng Lee 15-21 Sep 24

It was a 5-star experience from the time we booked the 7 days Tour du Mont Blanc tour through X-trekkers.

CK was very kind and helpful. He answered all our questions so promptly. He even went the extra mile and organised weekly hikes months before the trip to help with our training. The softcopy guide/ manual that he made for the hike was very useful for our preparation.

We opted for the comfort version of the tour. The hotels and refuges that we stayed in during our hike were very clean and comfortable. Can request to borrow a hair dryer if needed. The breakfast and dinner provided were delicious!

Our guide, Alain, was very experienced, calm, and patient. We felt safe in his good hands. He went beyond his duty to help buy knee guards in the nearby town for tour mates that were injured during the hike. Despite French being his main language, he tried his best to communicate with us in English and shared many interesting facts along the way.

We are most grateful to CK, Alain, and our tour mates for helping us and giving us an unforgettable travel experience.

Booked the 9D Tour du Mont Blanc hike package with X-Trekkers and it proved to be a memorable and fulfilling experience. CK was prompt in sharing information to help us prepare for the hike and also answering questions we might have. The entire hike was also run very well and we felt safe and looked after throughout. Food and lodgings were also great. We would definitely return to X-trekkers for future hike trips.

The only dissatisfaction I want to bring up is the tour guide is not the same person you have mentioned in the circular sent to me. The tour group I am with is a French speaking group & the tour guide communicated in French throughout the trek although he can speak some English. He was not being informed that he need to communicate in English. Luckily some of the tour mates can speak English & assist in the translation. The tour guide occasionally speak English to me. He is however very professional & know his stuff very well so I have no complaint on him.

The trekking trip is well organised. The trails is tough but is manageable for those who trek & hike regularly. The view is amazing when you are at the top of the mountain. Accommodation is satisfactory although some are with very minimum facility. The food is delicious if you are prepared to eat staples food like bread & cheese for all meals.

  • Unforgettable in a good way.
  • Martial is an excellent guide. One of the best I’ve met. Totally enjoyed the trek & the company.
  • Big thanks to CK for the detailed coordination as always.”
  • Best Moments: The wonderful team.
  • Least Enjoyed:
    • Shivering in one of the supposedly hot but cold shower.
    • The blisters from day 1. Would have been good to use anti-blister socks or sock liners.
  • Recommendations:
    • Must bring slippers for refuge. Not all provide.
    • Blister plasters a must
  • Finding the Oui bus connection to Chamonix was a mad panic because there were no clear markers or signage. Neither did the bus have the logo printed on it.
Bruce and Denise 28/6/19 ~4/7/19
  • Bucket List for Hiking.
  • The route from Champex to Trient over the Fenetre d’Arpette is quite dangerous at the top. The final climb is over soft snow combs and very loose rocks. Definitely not appropriate for anyone other than expert hikers.
  • Best Moments: The two days between Trient-Argentiere-Chamonix have the most incredible views.
  • Least Enjoyed Moments: Final descent into Chamonix. The cable car at Le Flegere was not operating.

We’ll be exploring for about 4 hours at a time, then hopping back into our cozy van to warm up and head to the next awesome spot. Don’t worry, it’s not a boot camp – think “invigorating strolls” and “breathtaking views” rather than “marathon training.” Just remember to layer up like a pro (check out our packing list!) and leave the heavy lifting to the van. Oh, and did we mention you’ll get a taste of Hokkaido’s fascinating culture along the way? From ancient Ainu history to modern hot spring traditions, it’s an adventure for the mind and body!

    3. ACCOMMODATION

Home Sweet Hokkaido Home! 🏡✨ You’ll be snuggling up in traditional Japanese Ryokans (think cozy inns with tatami mats and comfy futons). Each one has its own unique charm, and we’ve handpicked them for their awesome locations and amenities. Think steaming onsen baths (hot springs!), en suite bathrooms, and sometimes even laundry facilities. We’ll do our best to get you into our top picks, but sometimes we need to shuffle things around depending on availability. No worries though, you’re guaranteed a comfy and authentic experience!

    Itinerary

From Sapporo New Chitose Airport – Jozankei

We may have to modify the indicated itinerary: either at the level of the organization (problem of overload of the accommodations, duplication of the groups, modification of the state of the ground, landslides, degraded trails, etc.), or directly because of the guide (weather, group level, etc.). These modifications are always made in your interest, for your safety and for a better comfort!

    Day 1

Sapporo New Chitose Airport (CTS) [4.8km, +30m]
Let the Hokkaido adventure begin! We’ll be rounding up the troops between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm at either New Chitose Airport or JR Chitose Station. (Don’t be late, the fun starts right away!) Make sure you’ve got a full belly because we’re hitting the road ASAP! First stop: Lake Shikotsu! But before we get there, we’ll make a pit stop at Lake Utonai, where you can try your bird-watching skills and spot some awesome winter visitors like Whooper Swans. (They’re way cooler than they sound!) Tonight, get ready for a steaming onsen with epic lake views, a delicious Japanese feast, and maybe even a few friendly deer strolling by. It’s going to be legen-dairy! 🦌♨.

    Meals: Dinner

    Stay: Ryokan at Lake Shikotsu

    Day 2

    Mt. Monbetsu Hike [7.9km, +530m]

Snowshoe School & Summit Views! Today, we’re strapping on those snowshoes and becoming winter ninjas! ❄🥷 Don’t worry, we’ll start with a quick lesson before tackling our first challenge: Mt. Monbetsu! This popular trail is a local favorite, with a gentle climb and epic views of Lake Shikotsu and surrounding volcanoes. (On a clear day, you can even spot Mt. Eniwa puffing away in the distance!) After our descent, we’ll refuel with a yummy lunch in the village. And if you’re lucky enough to be here in late January, get ready for the awesome Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival! Think ice sculptures, frosty fun, and maybe even a snowball fight or two (just kidding… maybe!). Tonight, it’s back to the Ryokan for another delicious dinner and a relaxing onsen soak. Ahhh, bliss!

    Meals: B,D

    Stay: Ryokan at Lake Shikotsu

    Day 3

    Ainu Culture & Steamy Volcanoes! [4km, +80m]

Today, we’re swapping lake views for ocean views as we journey to Shiraoi. First, we’ll explore the Upopoy National Ainu Museum and dive into the rich history of Hokkaido’s indigenous people. Then, get ready for a walk on the wild side in “Hell Valley” (Jigokudani)! (Don’t worry, it’s not actually hellish, just super cool!) We’ll witness steaming volcanic vents and maybe even feel the earth’s heat beneath our feet. And for a truly unique experience, we’ll warm up our toes in a natural hot spring river! Tonight, it’s back to the Ryokan for another delicious dinner and onsen relaxation.

    Meals: B,L,D

    Stay: Ryokan in Noboribetsu

    Day 4

Volcano Hike & Baby Volcano Sightseeing! [6km, +410m]

Time to lace up those boots and embrace Mt. Usu! This active volcano offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and its own steaming crater. (Don’t worry, we won’t get too close to the lava!) After our hike, we’ll grab some grub and head to Showa Shinzan, a volcano so young, it’s practically a newborn! (Cue the “awws”!) Then, we’ll journey to Jozankei Onsen, a hidden hot spring paradise tucked away in Sapporo City. (It’s like a secret level in a video game!) Tonight, it’s another delicious dinner and onsen relaxation. Life is good!

    Meals: B,D

    Stay: Ryokan in Jozankei

    Day 5

    Snowshoe Shuffle & Souvenir Hunting! [6.2km, +480m]

Time to hit the trails again! We’re off to Mt. Kokimobetsu, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of “Ezo-Fuji” (aka Mt. Yotei). The hike is a winter wonderland walk in the park (literally!), so you’ll have plenty of energy to explore the quirky shops at Nakayama Pass afterwards. (Think local treats and unique souvenirs!) Then, it’s back to Jozankei Onsen for a celebratory dinner and a final soak in the hot springs. Don’t forget to pack your camera and your sense of adventure!

    Meals: B,D

    Stay: Ryokan in Jozankei

    • Drivers/ guides were pretty much punctual most of the time (max 10mins wait) and this is something I appreciate a lot. They are experienced and able to answer our questions to clarify any doubts.
    • Best moments: To ascent to the summit and take in the breathtaking views with my 2 sons.’
    • Everything is good and we truly enjoyed the experience a lot.
    • The briefing notes were sufficient. As long as your local partner is punctual and knowledgeable, some of the questions can only be cleared when we are there with them.

    • Best moment: Whole trip because of group dynamics & good weather. Admittedly these didn’t have much to do with X-Trekkers but they provided good platform for our group.

    S E Ong Mt Kinabalu 11-15 Oct 22

    • The logistics for the trip was well arranged.
    • The guides took good care of us. As this is my second trip to MK, I know what to expect, so safety is not a concern. My one comment is that if we were to hike in heavy rains, the guides could have briefed us on precautions to take, such as hot water flask, carrying headlamp, whistle, etc in case of mishaps.
    • Best moment: To arrive back at Timpohon gate! This is the highlight, not the summit as descending is a major task for my bad knees.
    • Very detailed briefing notes.

    Sudarshana 7-10 Feb 2020

Thank you very much. It was an amazing trip and its really an amazing experience. The arrangement was really good and Edmund was a very good and helping guide. Yes body legs still aching, should be better soon.

    Anthony Ong 28 Jun – 02 July 2018

    • Vincent was really helpful and thanks for his responsiveness.
    • It is not about safety, rather when exhausted , the mussels becomes weak and hence it is necessary to have a walking stick. When the body becomes weak, safety becomes a concerns.
    • Best Moments: Reaching the peak.. as it requires a lot of mental perseverance and endurance
    • Exhilarating Experience

    John Eric F. Jimenez 7-10 Aug 2015

    • AWESOME
    • No comments on the climb since the time we were about to climb Mt Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia was hit by earthquake and no one is allowed to climb until further notice.
    • Best moment of the trip: Padas White Water Rafting – We experience on this activity our firsts. First time to ride an old diesel train and First time to do rafting.
    • Moment least enjoyed: Island Hoping – Although the island is good, it was a bit crowded and need a long que to do some water sport. Also, the weather changes in an instant which stops all the activity.

    Sharon 11-14 Jun 2014

    • Amazing experience.
    • Best moment: reaching the summit.

Lim Kok Hua 17-20 Jun 2014

    • Everything went smoothly. Great job!
    • A couple of our team members could not make it to the summit.
    • On the whole, the experience was memorable.

    Desmond Zhang 17-20 Mar 2013

    • Excellent service!
    • Needs reasonable fitness to summit. As the path are man-made it is generally safe. However can be slippery if raining.

Lim Soo Ho 25-28 Feb 2013

    • I was pleasantly surprise by the food arrangement at Mt Kinabalu compared to my previous trip.
    • I underestimated the importance of being fit and strong.
    • The whole trip was enjoyable. But I was most impressed by the improvement at Laban Rata.
