There are over 200 falls and creeks in Hida-Osaka, many made from platy joint or columnar joint, making them a view not to be missed. Enjoy the frozen waterfalls when you do a trek in the National Park, have lunch outdoors near the frozen waterfalls and bathing in a hot spring surrounded by snow at the end of the tour.

Requirements

Age: 10 to 70 years old.
Health: Experience in snow sports or snowshoe trekking is helpful. Participants need to be strong enough to walk by themselves with snowshoes on for the whole tour. Please be aware that some degree of physical fitness is required when walking with snowshoes. The Hida-Osaka Waterfall Trekking Office reservation desk will ask about your experience at the time of your reservation.

Day 1 Arrival Hida-Osaka [D]
Arrive at Hida-Osaka Station 
Pickup by Ryokan Staff and transfer to Ryokan (15 mins drive)
Arrive at Ryokan. Rest of day is free at leisure.
You can enjoy a leisure walk by your own and soak in hotspring.
Dinner at Ryokan

Day 2 Frozen Waterfalls Trekking [B/-/D]
AM  Enjoy your breakfast in Ryokan
0820/0900 Assemble at Hida-Osaka Visitor Centre to meet guide for your Selected Frozen Waterfall tour
Regular Tour (Full): Time – 0820-1630; 2hrs trek, Lots of snow, lunch and hotspring
Regular Tour (Weekday): Time – 0820-1500; 2hrs trek, Lots of snow, NO lunch and NO hotspring
Premier Tour: Time – 0820-1600; 3hrs trek, Lots of snow, NO lunch and NO hotspring
Karatanidaki Waterfall Tour: Time – 0900-1500; 5hrs trek, A little snow, NO lunch and NO hotspring
1500-1630  Back at at Hida-Osaka Visitor Centre and make your way back to Ryokan
Night Dinner at Ryokan

Weather Alert

The Hida-Osaka Waterfall Trekking Office will contact all participants by 5:00 PM on the day before the tour date if unsuitable weather is forecast and the tour is cancelled. Tours can be called off even on the day of the tour if the Hida-Osaka Waterfall Trekking Office determines that the road conditions are too dangerous or if the roads are closed because of heavy snow or a snowstorm.
