11 DAYS, 14 DAYS OR 15 DAYS

Few mountains in the world rival the grandeur of Mount Kailash ( 6714m.), the famed holy peak in western Tibet. Kailash has long been an object of worship for four major religions. For the Hindus, it is the domain of Shiva. It is also the abode of Samvara – a multiarmed, wrathful deity worshipped in the Chakrasamvarara Tantric cycle of the Tibetan Buddhism. The Jains of India also revere the mountain as the site at which of first of their saints emancipated. And in the ancient Bon religion of Tibet, Kailash was the sacred nine storeys Swastika Mountain, upon which the Bonpo founder Shenrab alighted from heaven. Sprawling below Mount Kailash is the sacred Lake Mansarovar (4560m) where a ritual bath will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma’s paradise and drink of its water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes. The 53 km kailash circuit is the holiest of all Tibet’s Pilgrimages and the beacon which draws most travelers to western Tibet. It is said that Single parikrama erases the accumulated sins of a lifetimes, while 108 circumbulation will achieve Salvation or Nirvana.

Kailash Manasarovar Via Kerung 2018

The Rasuwagadi-Kerung border crossing (linking Nepal to China’s autonomous region Tibet) is now open to foreign travellers who wish to travel to Kailash via the “new overland route”, after the closure of the Kodari border due to heavy damages received since the 2015 earthquake. Our overland Kailash Tour via Kerung, travels from Kathmandu via Kerung, Saga, Manasarovar, Darchen and Kailash. The Kerung border is located 175 km from Kathmandu and lies in the Rasuwagadi district of Nepal. Due to narrow and basic road construction, it takes around 8-9 hours from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via Timure. Kerung is elevated around 3,000m and staying one day for acclimatization assists to alter your body in high altitude. From Kerung, we continue the scenic drive to the villages of Saga, Manasarovar and Darchen with picturesque Mount Kailash surroundings and beautiful Tibetan settlements.
