Markha Valley is one of the most popular treks in Ladakh during the summer months. Winter in this valley is a completely different experience, a stark contrast if one can say. The mountains are under a layer of snow, the trees have shed their leaves and the river is flowing gently, at times under the frozen layer of ice. This trek is as much about the incredible views as it is about experiencing the winter life of the local villagers. We stay with them in their warm homes and see how they have mastered the art of thriving and living happily in some of the harshest conditions. Winter is also a great time to see wildlife of Ladakh upclose as they all come down in search of food, you might even get to see the snow leopard if you are lucky!
