Yamagata Prefecture is situated on the westernmost part of the Tohoku region and the city Yamagata is only 2.5hrs by JR Yamagata Shinkansen Line from Tokyo. The area offers over 100 amazing hot springs, historical temples and shrines, with scenic points such as mountain ranges and the Mogami River.

Lying between Cianjur and Sukabumi regencies of West Java Province, the Park is rich with flora and fauna and is covered by sub-montane, montane and sub-alpine forest. The active Mt. Gede volcano (2,958 m) and triangular shaped Mt. Pangrango (3,019 m) are favored weekend hiking destinations for many Jakartans.
